BCS
is the world's leading industry body for those working in IT, serving over
70,000 members worldwide. Formerly known as the British Computer Society,
BCS is the only professional body able to confer chartered status in all
three of the following areas: Chartered Engineer (CEng), Chartered Scientist
(CSci) and Chartered IT Professional (CITP).
The Sussex Branch of BCS was established in 1967. We are delighted that
Roy
Newell, a founder member of both BCS and the Sussex Branch, continues
to serve on our committee.
Today the Sussex Branch boasts a vibrant community of more than 1600 members.
We range from under 20 to over 90 years of age.
We usually hold 6 public meetings each year. Our Annual General Meeting
is held in May. We sometimes arrange special events and social activities
in addition to our regular programme. Our public meetings are free and open
to everyone, including non-members. Please see our events page for more
information.
