Emerging Computer Applications 2007
Conference

Sat April 28th 2007, Sussex University, Brighton

Celebrating

Half-a-Century of the BCS and 40 years of the Sussex Branch

This one day conference brought together speakers from a wide variety of fields, including gaming, medicine, finance and music, to demonstrate emerging advances in the application of computers.

The presentations were entertaining, informative, generally accessible to a wide audience and best of all were designed to inspire and give much food for thought. They demonstrated how far computing has come in the last 50 years with the BCS playing an increasingly significant role.

The conference was organised by the Sussex branch of the  to mark the BCS Golden Jubilee and the Fortieth Anniversary of the founding of the Sussex Branch. Details of the conference venue at Sussex University Conference Centre may be found here and a map showing the centre here.

Brighton is a vibrant city nestling between the English Channel and the South Downs and only one hour from London. With many fine hotels, lots of restaurants and attractions that include the Lanes (antiques and boutiques), the North Lanes (alternative independent shops), the Royal Pavilion (it's amazing inside and you just have to see the Dragon holding the central chandelier), Palace Pier (tacky and chavy but still good fun), and of course the Seafront (ice cream, clubs, pubs, art galleries, roller blading and lots of pebbles). Further afield you'll find Lewes (an old market town with a Castle and antique shops) or the South Downs at Seven Sisters Country Park (an area of outstanding natural beauty and that is not an exaggeration).

This is a great opportunity to visit us in Brighton to celebrate 50 years of the BCS and take in some shopping, dining and walking on the Downs or by the sea.
